The electrical equipment used to test the enamel and tape systems in the shop, yard, or field shall be a portable, low-amperage, adjustable-voltage, pulse-type holiday detector employing an audible signaling device. The holiday detector shall be provided with a coil-spring electrode or a suitable brush-type electrode. 1 Input power. The primary input wattage shall be no higher than 20 W,and the minimum number of pulses at crest voltage shall be 20 per sec. 2 Operating voltage. 1 For electrical inspection of exterior pipe coatings, the operating voltage of the detector shall be established according t o the following procedure, but in no case shall the operating voltage exceed 15,000V.
